°¬¿ÉÖ±²¥ College’s Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society is designed to create multidisciplinary, collaborative research processes to address critical societal issues in the areas of energy, health, and the environment.
Through the Institute, °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥ College is creating new interdisciplinary courses in integrated sciences and human-centered engineering, design thinking, implementation science, data analytics, global public health, and other fields that will combine elements of science, engineering, humanities, law, and entrepreneurship through collaboration with MCAS, BC’s professional schools, and its Shea Center for Entrepreneurship. This cooperation across departments and schools strengthens teaching and research in the sciences and enhances the University’s ability to advance the common good through research focused on pressing global problems.
The Schiller Institute brings people and ideas together to address the world’s most pressing challenges. We champion transdisciplinary research and teaching that transcend traditional academic boundaries, creating new pathways for discovery, innovation, and meaningful impact. By connecting strengths across °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥ College, we empower °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥and students to collaborate in ways that advance human well‑being and contribute to a more just and sustainable world. Our success is reflected in the real‑world change our work inspires and in the growing recognition and support from partners who share our commitment to using knowledge in service of the greater good.
“ At the Schiller Institute, we are driven by a belief that the great challenges of our time demand imagination, courage, and collaboration across every boundary. By bringing people together to create knowledge that serves human flourishing and the common good, we strive to help shape a future that is more just, more sustainable, and more worthy of the generations to come. ”
