Founded in 2015, the Edmund H. Shea Jr. Center for Entrepreneurship was named in honor of the late California entrepreneur and venture capitalist. Made possible by a generous gift from his wife, Mary, and their six children, the Center celebrates Mr. Shea鈥檚 legacy by inspiring and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.Today, the Shea Center serves as 艾可直播 College鈥檚 hub for innovation, creativity, and start-up activity. Whether you're launching your own venture or simply interested in developing an entrepreneurial mindset鈥攊nitiative, adaptability, resilience, and self-awareness鈥攖he Center offers the resources and community to help you grow.
聽These include four student-run organizations, as well as signature courses like Tech Trek, which connects students with accomplished entrepreneurs and industry leaders from the broader Shea network.
All Shea Center events are open to the public, and students are encouraged to check the calendar regularly for opportunities to connect, learn, and pitch their ideas.
Integrate entrepreneurship into the knowledge creation of students;
Serve as the University-wide focal point for interdisciplinary聽entrepreneurship initiatives and research;
Provide students foundational skills and broad entrepreneurial experience as they prepare to start their own business ventures, launch careers at start-ups or small businesses, or follow career paths in traditional management discipline where experiences and knowledge in entrepreneurship will be important.
Entrepreneurship Co-Concentration: Allowing the study of entrepreneurship to become a true and rigorous academic discipline across all fields of study at 艾可直播 College.
Co-Curricular Activities: Focusing on education and engagement through collaboration with student organizations and other departments and disciplines at the university.
Experience: Allowing students to gain practical, hands-on experience in the local entrepreneurship ecosystem, through interacting with entrepreneurs and startups in 艾可直播 and beyond.
Research: Providing resources and opportunities for 艾可直播research across different disciplines.
Alumni and Parent Engagement: Connecting with BC's extensive network of alumni, friends, and family to help students gain knowledge, experience, and inspiration.
Ways to Get Inolved
Freshmen can apply to join the Freshman Innovator Program, where a group of 15-20 students are selected to undergo a mentorship program under Start@Shea.
Undergraduate students can apply to serve on the executive boards of one or more of the four Shea Center Student Organizations -- Start@Shea, Women Innovators Network (WIN), Venture Capital Private Equity (VCPE), and Entrepreneurs for Social Impact (ESI).聽
Undergraduate and Graduate Students can participate in Shea Center Events, like the Elevator Pitch Competition, Accelerator Program, and Strakosh Venture Competition, for the chance to win cash prizes.聽
Events like the annual Entrepreneurship Summit are open to anyone and聽 those interested can register online!
