Average Joe will walk in to hospital. Just like you and I, as we would. Average Joe will wait patiently to see a doctor, after all he does have something on his mind. He had headaches.
Average Joe will then have his consultation. All jokes. As after all, he’s got something a little more serious to talk about. How else to camouflage nervousness with some inappropriate giggly banter.

Having the time
What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No...

Easter's mark
I am surrounded by sounds and smells foreign to me as I sit here with the breeze, ever so slightly caressing. Mothers and their babies. Couples walking hand-in-hand, enjoying the sun. Good friends sitting together, sipping at wine. I stare at the condensation forming on the surface of the glass. All reminding me of the promise of tomorrow.
I shut my eyes. I am brought back a year. The sounds and...
One must at least have two friends: One to talk to, and one to talk about.

How long is a piece of string?
One year. Finite.
I started it saying hi to you. Sporadically I visit, sporadically I say hi. Overheard recently (along the lines of this): just because two people don’t talk anymore, it doesn’t mean they don’t care.
I end my year, dedicating it to you.
Twice half its length, you said to me.
I miss you tuapui.
PS - I don’t think the figure is about to jump by...

A state of being
Happiness. It is an acute sensation.
It is usually associated with family. And taking your shoes off in fancy places. It is also associated with long stemmed glasses. It can be present in the absence of a smile.
It is also associated with laughter: in this picture, more likely a mixture of giggling and snorting. And sitting cross-legged bare foot in fancy places. And drinking from long...

A week in the life of Suan in Penang
For Cheryl and Kristy and May, so then you guys can pretend you’re here with me :)
It took me three different goreng pisang shops because I was finally redirected to the fourth stall which had some. Apparently, all the bananas in Penang are NOT YET RIPE, will only ripen on Saturday - so there were NO BANANA FRITTERS. I don’t understand.
And also some ice cream to go with it....

Sometimes I envy those who take the path less trodden, the road less travelled, park their car on the side road ten streets away from the mall. Instead, I flock with the sheep, travel the conventional route, I go to the multi-storey mall carpark on a Sunday afternoon.
I feel like I’m on a never-ending chase for a piece of paper. Now that I’ve got one, what do I do? Chase another piece...
A thought
I don’t know why the culmination of sixteen years of education produces only a luke-warm sensation in me.
Actually, I lie.
I know why. But knowing why doesn’t make me feel any better.
Do you know donor fatigue? People care, people donate, people are aware. But after a while, people get on with their lives. And no longer donate. They may still care, but they are no longer aware, they...
